About Us
Asian Professional Extension, Inc. (APEX) is dedicated to promoting the development of inner-city Asian American youth by providing them with adult role models, educational programs, social services, and career guidance. The organization was founded in 1992 by a small group of young professionals who recognized that Asian American youth, particularly recent immigrants, have unique needs and mobilized volunteers to address them. APEX seeks to empower the youth to be well-rounded, productive members of society by helping them build their self-confidence, explore career options, develop leadership skills, embrace their Asian American identity, and access resources and networks to achieve personal goals.
APEX is the first agency in New York City to offer mentoring and educational services to all Asian American youth. Now on its fifteenth year, APEX has served thousands of youth and has attracted hundreds of volunteers. Many of those youth are now themselves mentors and volunteers.
